The new big wave season has arrived and brought that FAMILIAR frenzy to the VILLaGE of Nazaré.
Largest PHOTOGRAPHY AND VIDEO contest ABOUT THE NAZARÉ CANYON AND PRAIA DO NORTE, WHICH AIMS to RAISE COMMUNITY AWARENESS AROUND THIS AMAZING PHENOMENON OF NATURE, WHICH Doesn't make ANYONE INDIFFERENT
Formed in the emblematic Canyon, the giant wave will test the best big riders in the world , in a season that is expected to be very intense and heavy.
However, the coming months will not only be special for those who dare to descend those impressive mountains of water with a surfboard under their feet. Photographers and videographers, who are an indispensable part of this whole machine, will have a new and exciting challenge ahead of them, thanks to the Mercedes-Benz Nazaré Winter Sessions Awards 2023/2024 .
Open to all professionals, amateurs and photography students, the Mercedes-Benz Nazaré Winter Sessions Awards 2023/2024 will run from 6th November of 2023 to 30th April of 2024. During this long period, photographers and videographers have the possibility of doing work at sea, land and air in five different categories: Wave, Wipeout, and Mercedes-Benz | Nazaré.
ALL WORKS SUBMITTED CAN BE VOTED BY THE PUBLIC UNTIL 15TH MAY OF 2024.
In this edition, in addition to public vote, we will have a jury panel where together they will decide the winners of each category.
In this way, through public votes, the 10 finalists in each category will be defined. Subsequently, the jury will be responsible for defining the winners of the contest, which will accompany the entire new big wave season in Nazaré. Final results will be announced on May 25th, 2024.
For each of the winners of the 3 categories in competition, both in photography and video, there is a prize worth €2,000, bringing this competition a total prize money of €16.500. Second place will be awarded a prize worth €500. For those who reach third place, the prize will be worth €250.
In addition to these awards, authors may have the possibility of seeing their works presented in a photography exhibition to be presented at the Surfing Lounge-Mercedes in Nazaré and the Mercedes-Benz Oceanic Lounge in Lisbon, as well as being part of the non-profit book titled Mercedes-Benz Nazaré Winter Sessions Awards 2023/2024.
